I have always admired manicured hands and colourful nail polish. Perhaps with some jealousy as I must confess, I am a later comer to nail varnish. But boy do I love it now! I have an array of nail varnishes from various brands and in different shades too. Most recently, I have loved experimenting with a top coat of glitter on top of my chosen colour and whether it’s just the one nail, or the whole lot…I love the stuff!
Usually I would go for shades, but after I heard about OPI's collaboration with the Disney character, Minnie Mouse, I knew I had to try! The vintage style of the packaging was very inviting and I loved being able to clearly see the vibrant and feminine colours of the nail varnish. I eagerly opened up the set and out popped 4 cute and tiny miniature-sized O.P.I bottles.
I began with "I'm all ears" which is a gorgeous magenta pink shade that has the most subtle flecks of blue and purple glitter. I opened the bottle and the found that the tops were easy to handle and to my surprise the brushes were the perfect width for my nail and created a neat application. The nail varnish went on so perfectly - it was so smooth and easy to apply. It took two coats to get a really good covering and it was very glitzy. The odour from the varnish is not too strong and it dried within 10 minutes which is perfect me for as I have no patience whatsoever and usually end up smudging them whilst waiting for them to dry. The finish was fab, and then to top it off, I added the Rapid Dry Top Coat which created a real depth to the varnish.
Now the biggest test for my new nails was going to work the next day! My usual nail varnish transfers on to the printing paper and this DID NOT which makes it perfect in my eyes. After two days wear it started to chip, but as I have a hands on job, this was to be expected.
Then I went onto try "The colour on Minnie". Red is my favourite colour, so I was so excited to wear this shade and it did not disappoint. I had two compliments on how gorgeous the colour was and I had to agree, it really did stand out. Again, this was easy to apply and the Top Coat sealed and secured the colour. I absolutely love this nail varnish!
I was a little dubious about trying the "If You Moust You Moust" shade as I never usually go for such a bright pink girly colour, but it definitely grew on me.
My eight year old daughter loved it too so I’m sure that it’s going to be going missing sometime soon!
